CODEBREAKERS & AVIATION HISTORY MAKERS
Originally a nineteenth century manor house, Bletchley Park was a critical part of the Allies’ success in World War Two. However, in the 21st Century, it has distinguished itself as one of Britain’s best-loved tourist attractions. Top secret codebreaking operations began at Bletchley before the outbreak of war, with MI6 occupying the house. In 1940, a team of codebreakers led by mathematician Alan Turing began intercepting communications by the Luftwaffe. Bletchley Park is seen as being one of the main contributors to the birth of the information age, with the first electronic computer, the Colossus, being produced there. Also included in this trip is a guided tour of nearby Cambridge, a picturesque, historical city and centre of education since the 13th Century.
